NOVELS

More recently, I've realized the benefits and interest in writing novels, especially in regard to storytelling. One of the major contributors that prompted my interest in writing books was my love of reading, specifically fantasy books with strong female leads. I often felt that strong female leads were under-represented in the entertainment industry, but it wasn't until I began reading more books that I found that many of the main characters were what I was searching for in films or shows. There's a sense of imaginative freedom that comes with reading that shows or movies can't provide, as a reader we can imagine how we perceive the characters, the world, the situations, and everything else. Additionally, as I continued writing more scripts I discovered the benefits that come with writing books. I was able to understand the characters better and develop them more thoroughly, I found it made writing all the more personal and emotional as I could put myself in the character's mindset, and understand where they were coming from. It wasn't until a little over a year ago did I finally decided to try writing a novel and since then I watched a thought turn from an idea and evolve into a story about self-discovery and strength. And as of now, I'm working on finishing the rough draft before going back in, editing and revising more, before I hope to send it off to a publisher. Below you'll find a summary of the book and a link to the mood board as well as the title (which itself is a work in progress).

About

"Grief is a ghost that haunts me through eternity."

At 18 years old, Sarena Sable Ashwyn became the most lethal and deadliest assassin Midara has ever known, naming her Death's Mistress. In a desperate time, Sarena took desperate measures with her sister's life hanging in the balance, she resorted to a career of crime and death by agreeing to work for the notorious crime lord of the human realm. For two years she did his bidding for him, stealing information or stealing lives, leaving no trace every time, she became a ghost story that struck fear into the souls of humans and Fae. After completing her final assignment, she thought to be free of a life she wouldn't wish on anyone, but when an old friend of her mothers appears in her room, asking Sarena for help investigating who is targeting the remaining people of her heritage she has no choice but to agree and finds herself sucked back into a life of secrecy and crimes.

After a year of working together and no progress is made, Sarena takes matters into her own hands and sneaks into the Arcane Court where she discovers ground-breaking information. Relaying her findings to Isa, Sarena starts to believe they are now making headway and she can finally put this life to rest once and for all. But when Sarena finds Isa dead, she realizes it is only the beginning, seeking vengeance for Isa and her mother's death, she makes a plan to target who she believes killed them: The Arcane Court. When Nox, a Grand Lord, appears in her home in search of Death's Mistress, Sarena has no choice but to agree to go with him for the safety of her sisters.

With a proposition to work for Nox in search of the Fae Court's missing relics or to spend the rest of her life in prison, Sarena reluctantly agrees to help Nox and his friends in finding the relics along with the solution to protect those remaining of her people.

In order to accomplish the tasks at hand and put her old life to retire, Sarena and Nox must put their differences aside but tension and resentment might just be the reason they fail in saving their people. With time running against them and their constant arguing, precious lives hang in the balance of Nox and Sarena's hands, but will they be able to survive one another to the end or will they be each other's destruction instead of each other's salvation?
